Möhlenhoff offers entry-level vocational qualifications to refugees - Ideal opportunities for a career start
Salzgitter, April 19, 2017 – Möhlenhoff, the specialist for heating, ventilation and air conditioning technology, offers refugees entry-level vocational qualifications in logistics. During this long-term practical training, trainees learn all the important basics, acquiring an ideal foundation from which they can launch their subsequent careers.
Entry-level vocational qualification is intended for young people who are ready to start training for a job – it gives them valuable insights into everyday working life and a real chance at a career start. Ahmad A. from Syria is the first refugee who has been accepted for this training at Möhlenhoff. “Ahmad has been working with us in warehouse logistics since March 1. He supports our team in the movement of merchandise within our warehouse,” explains Frank Geburek, CEO of Möhlenhoff. “He’ll acquire all the important basics and skills during his time with us, preparing him in the best possible way for potential professional training as a warehousing specialist.”
Ahmad A. came to Germany from Syria in 2014. He speaks Arabic, English and German. “These language skills are an important prerequisite for communication in the company,” says Horst Hopert, logistics team leader. “Ahmad is an ideal candidate for qualification training like this. He has a work permit, is willing to work hard and he also has the necessary interest in the job.” The Kooperationsinitiative Maschinenbau e.V. (Cooperation Initiative for Mechanical Engineering, KIM) suggested Ahmad to the company and helped with the arrangements.
“We gave a traineeship position to a refugee last year and were very satisfied with the results. As a member of the KIM, it was only natural for us to offer entry-level vocational qualifications as well,” explains Cornelia Küster, Head of Human Resources. The long-term practical training course finishes on August 31. “If Ahmad completes it successfully, he has a very good chance of getting a job as a trainee warehousing specialist.” Ahmad A. is also very happy with his new job. His first impressions of working for the heating, ventilation and air conditioning manufacturer? “The team at Möhlenhoff have made me feel very welcome and I’m looking forward to learning lots of new things in the next few months.”
