“Number Six” in the actuator portfolio
Salzgitter, January 2020 – Thanks to their functionality and durability, the thermal valve drives of the OEM Actuator 5 product family have already established themselves on the world market. Now Möhlenhoff has augmented this portfolio with the OEM Actuator 6, a valve drive that combines proven, future-oriented technology and modern design. Users can see the OEM Actuator 6 and other new developments in action at two trade fairs in spring: Mostra Convegno Expocomfort 2020 (March 17-20, Milan) and Light+Building 2020 (March 8-13, 2020, Frankfurt am Main).
“Number Six” has been added to the Möhlenhoff actuator portfolio. The heating, ventilation and air-conditioning technology specialist is offering the new valve drive in the NC (normally- closed) on/off variants with fixed or plug-in connection cable and for the first time by Möhlenhoff – a new valve drive with manual adjustment. With a design width of less than 40 millimeters, this 6th generation of the Möhlenhoff classic is smaller than the OEM Actuator 5, but its runtime performance is 25 percent faster. Despite its small dimensions, it remains compatible with the proven Möhlenhoff valve adapter system and all earlier actuator generations – and the OEM Actuator 6 offers IP54 water protection in all mounting positions. Möhlenhoff engineers have also succeeded in reducing the inrush current at 230 volts from 550 to 300 milliamperes – and Möhlenhoff has dispensed with the sealing compound as protection against moisture in the new OEM Actuator 6, protecting the environment and climate and simplifying the recycling of the product at the end of its life.
Möhlenhoff will also be showcasing another new product at the Milan and Frankfurt trade fairs – the OEM Serial Bus Converter, the communication interface for intelligent buildings. This interface enables users to easily connect analog thermal and motor-driven valve drives to an RS485 system for asynchronous, serial data transmission. The Modbus RTU variant controls up to 24 converters in series on one single power supply, with two valve drives and two sensors per Modbus address, considerably reducing the data points.
The OEM Motoric Valve Drive failsafe is the latest addition to Möhlenhoff’s Motoric Valve Drive family. Thanks to its internal energy storage, the new Motoric linear drive moves the valve to a desired parking position, enabling the defined restarting of the entire system after a power failure. Like all new-generation Möhlenhoff actuators, the Motoric Valve Drive failsafe is also available ex works in a wide range of versions, with actuating forces of either 125 or 200 Newton, actuating times of 15 and 30 seconds per millimeter and actuating travel of up to 8.5 millimeters. This provides many variation possibilities to users and allows them to precisely adapt the product to their valve or application.
Möhlenhoff will also be showcasing automatic hydraulic balancing at both trade fairs. In the company’s exhibition booths, visitors will also see the Alpha 2 room-by-room temperature control system, which was recently certified by the German Technical Inspection Authority (TÜV Rheinland). This universal, individual room control for heating and cooling applications is available in bus or radio-controlled versions. Thanks to Smart Home ready, users can conveniently integrate the system into existing home automation systems via an open XML interface and operate it quickly and easily using a laptop, tablet or smartphone. A delta-T regulator integrated into the thermal valve drive as a study will also be on display at the trade fairs – here the engineers focused on creating a compact drive that will fit any distributor, ensure universal and safe operation and is no higher than a simple OEM Actuator 5.
